My Stormwall arrived this morning :D
Again, like the Storm Strider, the Stormwall is a monstrous part-resin part-metal kit. This means that, like the Storm Strider, it’s going to be a total cunt to put together >< This time it’ll be worse however due to the sheer size of the single resin chunk that the torso is made out of.
The other annoying thing is that the head is metal so it’ll be front heavy when trying to fit the torso to the legs. Now this might not seem like much of a problem but due to the size and detail I’ll be painting it in 4 sections – legs, torso assembly, left arm and right arm – before building it up completely. While this makes it much easier to do a decent paint job, it’s going to force me to use thick super glue to support the weight of the sections and stop them breaking away (I’ve already had to re-attatch 2 legs to the Strider – they were pinned when I built it and much lighter than the bits for the ‘Wall). It may also cause some problems with the discolouration and bleaching you sometimes get with super glue when applied to already painted models.
However, the good thing about it the kit is that they are nice enough to supply you with Forge World style assembly instructions and a 120mm card wreck marker for that heartbreaking turn where the Behemoth again becomes the biggest thing on the table.
Well, them reasons and that I now have a fucking mahoosive steam-powered battle robot that can shoot lighning and has as many guns as limbs :)
In other news, the second Chaos Stormtalon got built today and paining commenced on the first:
I’ve tried to put as many silver panels onto the Word Bearers gunship as I don’t want it to turn out like my rhino currently is (very red and very boring). Once I get it finished I’ll post up the colour scheme for anyone interested as I’m using the new GW paints as opposed to the old ones used on my Chaos Lord.
I’m gonna try painting the silver armour on a traitor marine before the Iron Warriors ‘Talon since I’m not sure if I want it to be a dull gunmetal of a really deep, tarnished silver. I’ll try dark and if it’s crap, I’ll lighten it up a bit.
Well, now off to finish building the Stormwall to a point I can use it – or at least part of the bloody chunky thing – in a couple of games. Proxying it before had some truely devastating results against a Circle force and I’m hoping it’ll be a bit more ridiculous when it’s the real thing instead of a blank 120mm base.
I am Alpharius.
